ePass2000 concepts
ePass2000 is the latest generation of
data security products. It combines the security features of a SmartCard with
the data transfer capability of the USB port. But it costs less
than the traditional SmartCard solution since it doesn't require a separate
card reader.
- very high security level. The on-board
cryptographic functions of the ePass2000 support 1024-bit RSA, DES, 3DES, SHA-1 and the MD5
algorithms. All signing and encryption operations are performed
inside the token. The private key never leaves the token's secure
storage space. Advanced chip encapsulation technology from Philips
also ensures the physical security of the data stored in the ePass2000
- Real random number generation. The ePass2000
token has special hardware used as a real random number generator
to create the key pair and Message Authentication Code (MAC).
- Hardware key pair generation. The RSA key pair is generated entirely within the
ePass2000 hardware.
It takes about 20 seconds to generate a 1024-bit key
pair. The large prime number used to derive keys is generated
by the real random number generator mentioned above.
- Two factor authentication. Security may be enhanced by requiring the User
to enter a 4-8 character alphanumeric PIN when using the
ePass2000.
- High reliability. ePass2000 is
Hot Pluggable and may be attached to a key chain; simply remove it
from the USB port and carry your sensitive security credentials with
you.
- Low cost. ePass2000 may be used to replace SmartCards
in PKI
applications,
but no separate reader (or power supply) is required.
- Colorful. ePass2000 tokens are available in four
translucent colors: Red, Blue, Purple and Green.
- Compatible. ePass2000 Operating System support
includes Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/2003/Vista, Linux and MACOS 8/9, OS X.
